Why GTA VI is not on PS4
Grand Theft Auto VI is built exclusively for current-generation hardware. The game's confirmed features — a massive open world spanning Vice City and the entire Leonida state, detailed character models, advanced lighting and weather systems, and DualSense controller integration — require the processing power, memory, and storage speeds of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The PS4, released in 2013, uses an eight-year-old Jaguar CPU architecture, a GPU equivalent to roughly 1.8 teraflops, a 5400 RPM hard drive, and 8 GB of shared GDDR5 memory. The PS5, by contrast, offers a custom Zen 2 CPU, a 10.3 teraflops GPU, a custom NVMe SSD, and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. Bridging this gap for a game of GTA VI's scope would require significant compromises that Rockstar has not indicated it is willing to make.
What about PS4 Pro?
The PS4 Pro, released in 2016, offers a modest upgrade over the base PS4 with a GPU rated at roughly 4.2 teraflops and support for checkerboard 4K rendering. However, it still shares the same Jaguar CPU architecture, 8 GB of memory, and hard-drive-based storage as the base PS4. These limitations make it equally unsuitable for a game designed around the PS5's custom architecture and SSD.
Rockstar has not announced any plans for a PS4 Pro version of GTA VI, and there is no technical or business reason to expect one.
What PS4 owners should do
If you currently own a PS4 and want to play GTA VI, you have a few options:

Will there be a PS4 bundle with GTA VI?

Can I use my PS4 controller to play GTA VI on PS5?
PS4 controllers (DualShock 4) work with PS5 for PS4 games but not for PS5 games. You will need a DualSense or DualSense Edge controller to play GTA VI on PS5. This also means you will get the full haptic feedback and adaptive trigger experience that Rockstar has confirmed for the game.
Is GTA VI on PS4 via cloud streaming?
