Confirmed platforms
PlayStation 5
GTA VI is confirmed for PlayStation 5, including the standard PS5, PS5 Slim, and PS5 Pro models. Rockstar has confirmed that the game supports the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on PS5 — the first game in the series to use these features. This means you will experience varying trigger resistance for different weapons and vehicles, and nuanced vibration feedback for road surfaces and environmental audio.

Xbox Series X|S
GTA VI is confirmed for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Both models run the same game, with the Series X targeting higher resolution and the Series S targeting 1440p. The game launches on the same day as the PS5 version with no timed exclusivity period. Xbox supports Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for spatial audio through any compatible headset or home theater setup.

Unconfirmed platforms
PC
Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA VI. There are no official system requirements, no Steam or Epic Games Store listing, and no release window. This is consistent with Rockstar's historical release pattern: GTA V launched on PC 18 months after the console version, and Red Dead Redemption 2 launched 13 months after console. A PC version is widely expected but entirely unconfirmed.
See our dedicated PC status page for the latest on a potential PC release including historical analysis and what to expect.
PS4 and Xbox One
Rockstar has not announced a PS4 or Xbox One version of GTA VI. While GTA V was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 and later ported to PS4 and Xbox One, that was a cross-generational release. GTA VI is being built exclusively for current-generation hardware. Given the game's scope, map size, and visual fidelity shown in the official trailers, a PS4 or Xbox One version is technically unlikely.
GTA Online will remain playable on PS4 and Xbox One separately, but the single-player GTA VI campaign is expected to be current-gen only. For the full details on PS4 status, see our PS4 compatibility page.
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
Rockstar has not announced any Nintendo platform version of GTA VI. Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 are not confirmed platforms. There is no evidence or official statement suggesting GTA VI will come to any Nintendo console.
Crossplay and cross-platform
Rockstar has not announced crossplay or cross-platform features for GTA VI. Cross-platform play between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is technically feasible and has become standard in modern AAA releases, but Rockstar has not confirmed any crossplay functionality. Crossplay with PC would depend entirely on when or if a PC version is announced. For more details, see our crossplay status page.
Console-specific features
PS5 DualSense support
Rockstar has confirmed that GTA VI supports the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on PS5. This is the first game in the GTA series to use these features. The DualSense Edge retains full support as a Sony first-party product. Third-party PS5 controllers cannot replicate these features.
Xbox Smart Delivery
Rockstar has not confirmed whether GTA VI will support Xbox Smart Delivery (which lets you buy once and play on both Series X and Series S with the appropriate version). Given that Smart Delivery is standard for first-party and most major third-party Xbox releases, it is likely but not confirmed.
Which platform should you choose?
Both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA VI launch on the same day with the same content. The key differences come down to:
- Controller — PS5 offers DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which Rockstar has confirmed GTA VI supports. Xbox relies on standard rumble. If controller immersion matters, PS5 has the edge.
- Console models — Xbox offers two price points (Series X at $499, Series S at $299). PS5 offers the standard model, a Slim version, and the premium PS5 Pro. Our console buying guide breaks down the trade-offs.
- Ecosystem — Your existing library, friends list, and subscription service (PlayStation Plus vs Xbox Game Pass) may be the deciding factor.
