GTA VI crossplay has not been confirmed. Rockstar Games has not announced any cross-platform play, cross-progression, or cross-save features for Grand Theft Auto VI between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC. While crossplay between consoles is technically feasible and has become standard in many modern AAA games, Rockstar has made no statement about whether GTA VI will support it.

What crossplay means for GTA VI
Crossplay (also called cross-platform play) lets players on different console or PC platforms play together in the same game session. For GTA VI, this would mean PS5 players could join lobbies with Xbox Series X|S players, or PC players if a PC version exists. Crossplay has become a standard feature in major online games, but Rockstar has a history of keeping its online ecosystems platform-separate.
GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S currently does not support crossplay between the two console families. Each platform has its own separate player base, progression, and economy. Rockstar has not indicated that this will change for GTA VI.
Console to console crossplay
PS5 to Xbox Series X|S crossplay is the most likely scenario if Rockstar decides to implement crossplay for GTA VI. Both consoles use similar networking infrastructure, and major publishers like Activision, Epic Games, and Microsoft themselves support console-to-console crossplay in their flagship titles. The technical barriers are low, and the player experience benefit is significant.
However, Rockstar has not announced this feature. GTA Online on the current generation has never supported crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox, so the company may choose to continue its platform-separate approach.
Console to PC crossplay
Crossplay between console and PC is more complicated for two reasons. First, Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA VI at all. Second, crossplay between console and PC raises balance concerns: PC players can use mouse and keyboard, higher frame rates, and wider field of view, which creates a competitive advantage in shooting and driving. Some games address this with input-based matchmaking, but Rockstar has made no statements about how it would handle this for GTA VI.
If a PC version is announced later (as with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, which arrived 13-18 months after console), crossplay details would likely be announced at that time. See our PC status page for the latest on a PC release.
Cross-progression and character transfer
Cross-progression lets you carry your progress, unlocks, and purchases between platforms. For GTA VI, this would be most relevant for players who might play on both console and PC, or who upgrade from one console to another within the same generation.
Rockstar has not announced any cross-progression or character transfer features for GTA VI. When GTA Online transitioned from PS4/Xbox One to PS5/Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar offered a one-time character and progress transfer. It is possible a similar transfer option will be available for GTA VI, but it has not been confirmed.
When will we know more?
Rockstar typically reveals GTA Online details and multiplayer features closer to launch. With GTA VI releasing on November 19, 2026, online feature announcements — including any crossplay plans — are expected in the months leading up to release. We will update this page as soon as Rockstar makes any official crossplay announcements.
