Rockstar Games will premiere Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, and publish it on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. You do not need a Netflix subscription to see it — you need six hours of patience.

The date, both premiere times, and all three destinations come from Rockstar’s Newswire announcement of August 6, 2026. Netflix confirms the same 3 p.m. ET slot on its own Tudum listing and describes the arrangement as a first-of-its-kind partnership.

Do you need Netflix?
No. Netflix gets a six-hour head start, and its own headline calls the premiere “exclusive” — but that exclusivity covers the early window, not the video itself. Rockstar states plainly that the same piece goes up on its YouTube channel and on rockstargames.com/VI at 9 p.m. ET on August 27. If you were already planning to subscribe, this is a head start; if you weren’t, it costs you an evening, not a fee.

A lot of coverage has filed this under “GTA 6 Trailer 3,” and some has called it a gameplay reveal. Rockstar did neither. Its announcement names the video An Extended Look, gives it no number, and says nothing about what the footage contains. Netflix’s listing is equally non-committal: it promises “an extended look” and a chance to “see more about the game.”

Treat “Trailer 3,” “first gameplay reveal,” and any specific runtime as expectation rather than fact. The phrase “extended look” is suggestive — it is not a description Rockstar has elaborated on. We will label what the video actually is after it airs, not before.
Why it matters now
This is the first new official GTA VI video event since Trailer 2 in May 2025, and it arrives with the November 19, 2026 launchthree months out. Take-Two reiterated that date in its fiscal first-quarter 2027 results on August 7, where CEO Strauss Zelnick cited “excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI” while holding the company’s full-year outlook steady. Nothing in either announcement changes the release date, the platforms, or the editions.
